Hailed as one of the best places to live in California

Lido Isle (mistakenly Lido Island) is a man-made island located in the harbor of Newport Beach with only a small bridge linking it to the city.

Solely residential with about 850 homes and 2,500 residents, Lido Isle has several bayfront homes, many with slips for yachts. Centrally located on Lido is the Clubhouse — the hub of social activities — and Lido Isle Yacht Club. There are no commercial facilities on the island other than a small summertime snack bar. Lido Isle amenities include sport courts, bayfront walkways, community docks and boat storage, exclusively for residents.

Balboa Island became part of the City of Newport Beach in 1916, and by 1921 homes began to fill the Island and Balboa Peninsula.

Roads were largely undeveloped to the Newport Harbor area, so most people arrived by rail to the Peninsula and took the ferry to Balboa Island. When the bridge to the North Bayfront was refurbished to hold automobiles in 1929, the island became much more accessible. Over the years, Balboa Island has developed into a wonderful community — home to professionals, families, retirees, students and celebrities. Some bayfront lots that once sold for $25 now appraise for over $3M, and yet, Balboa Island still maintains its charm and small-town feel. During the summer, the bayfront is lined with joggers, children and visitors eating Balboa Bars, and in the serene winters, you can sometimes hear halyard lines beating against their masts and an occasional seagull.
